Practically Perfect in Every Way

Last night I saw "Mary Poppins" at Capitol Theater. It was wonderful! The sets, the songs, the lighting - a spectacular display of musical theater at its finest. (Does that sound too much like an ad? Get your tickets NOW at arttix.org.)

The play made me want to tap dance in a musical. And I kind of wish I knew how to fly.

Which got me to thinking... Someone should open a theater where, after the show, audience members can hop on stage and be a part of the experience. You could teach people 32 counts of a dance sequence and plop them in the middle of a favorite song. Or project the script on a screen (think karaoke-style) and people could act out scenes on set with the performers. It would be like an amusement park for people who always wanted to be on Broadway but don't have the time or (ahem) talent. I really think there's a market for this! Someone should take this idea and run with it. It's a gold mine. We can share the profits 50/50.
