The Perils of Living Alone

Yesterday I was running out the door to make a quick grocery run.  I had my shopping list and my car keys.  I walked out to my garage and was hopping in my car when I realized...  I wasn't wearing any pants.  This is why a person should have roommates, so they don't accidentally leave the house with no pants.

No pictures to go along with this post.  Sorry.  This is a family blog.

Milestone

Carly and I reached a major milestone yesterday.  The kid peed on me while I was changing her diaper.  I'm pretty sure that each of my nieces and nephews has gone to the bathroom (or worse still, thrown up) on me at one point or another.  That must mean I'm a good aunt.

Now excuse me while I go wash my hands.  AGAIN.

An Interesting Fact

Number of virtually identical pairs of sunglasses I currently have in my car:  Four.

Number of pairs of sunglasses I am allowed to purchase over the next four years:  Zero.

Chance I have of sticking to this resolution:  Also Zero.

Airport Encounters

I saw Wynonna Judd walking through the Salt Lake Airport on Sunday.  I'm a dork so I was kind of excited.  She looked good too.  Happy.  (Since we're friends now and everything.)

The other thing that happened at the airport this weekend was that I got pulled aside at security because they thought I was under 12 and traveling unaccompanied.  TWELVE?  Are you kidding me?  I haven't looked that young in 20 years.

Finally, I noticed this weekend that I can order a pepperoni personal pan pizza and breadsticks, but as long as I order the light lemonade to drink, I still feel like I'm eating healthy.  Like the 5 calorie lemonade balances out the 5,000 calorie pizza.  Does anyone else justify their decisions that way?

#22

There probably aren't many people who, when they're planning a trip to Las Vegas, make going to the LDS Temple there their first priority.  But I love attending sessions in temples that I haven't been to before and I was able to visit Las Vegas this weekend. This was Temple #22 that I have been through.

Saturday is a Special Day

You know those Saturdays when you wake up and say... I should really:
  • Replace my shower rod
  • Shred that pile of pay stubs from 2011
  • Dust the top of my fridge
  • Recycle old phone books
  • Vacuum my car
  • Wash and store my winter blankets.
And then you actually do?  I love those days.

I've Been Spoiled Rotten This Week

Tyler told me I make really good cookies.

Bryce introduced me to One Direction (British boy band) and sang along with the You Tube video for me in his (deceptively) sweet little voice.

Tanner amused me all weekend long with his amazing "bum scoot."  I've never seen a kid who refuses to crawl but instead would rather scoot (at rocket speed) everywhere he goes.  It's impressive, but he's got to be exhausted.

Lauren took my hand and led me up - and down- and up - and down (and repeat) the sidewalk in front of her house.  And sweet Carly slept in my lap.

Also this week, someone at work told me that I should be the one to introduce a new idea to our sales team because they value my opinion more than anyone else's and might actually listen to me.  (And that, my friends, is because I am typically RIGHT.)

I also got a pedicure and a massage, ate orange chicken at the Mandarin and chips and salsa at Chilis.  All in all, a pretty good week for me.  I can't complain.

New Queen of Diamonds

I'm a little late to the party, but I do feel I should mention Neil Diamond's April 21, 2012 wedding to music manager Katie McNeil.  She looks a little like Carrie Underwood in this picture.  And he's 71 and she's 42.  (Not that there's anything wrong with that.)  I wish them every happiness.  Long Live Neil Diamond!!!

I'm Just Saying...

It's very hard to keep a straight face when someone walks into your office at work and calls you "buckaroo."  Do I look like someone who likes to be called buckaroo?  No, clearly not.

Yesterday when I left for work, my apartment had gray siding.  When I came home from work, my apartment had brown siding.  I knew they were going to do some repair work after the windstorms we had last December.  But I didn't know it was going to look like an entirely different complex.  I'm not sure how I feel about this.  Also, the good people at Kohls made some changes to the layout of the Centerville store without consulting me.  I was very disoriented when I went there last week.  I do know how I feel about this particular change... and it's not good.

I'm trying to think if I have anything else to whine about.  But that might be it for now.  Enjoy your day, buckaroos.
